What Reviews & Reports Really Say

Before you sign a 3-year contract, here’s what consumers and the media have documented about the UK’s biggest security brands.

Verisure

Swedish multinational — UK residential

Aggressive sales tactics widely reported. Thousands of Trustpilot reviews cite unsolicited door-to-door visits and persistent cold calling. Which? and consumer press have covered complaints about Verisure’s UK sales approach.
36-month minimum contract. Verisure’s standard residential agreement locks customers in for a minimum of 36 months, with significant financial penalties for early exit frequently referenced in consumer reviews.
Proprietary equipment lock-in. Verisure’s Protea system is exclusive to their engineers. If you change provider, your equipment cannot be transferred or serviced by a third party.
No upfront pricing. You cannot get a quote online or by phone without agreeing to a sales visit — making comparison shopping deliberately difficult.

ADT

US-owned corporate — UK residential & commercial

Major security breach by own engineer. In the US, a former ADT technician pleaded guilty (2021) to fraudulently accessing hundreds of customers’ home security camera feeds for personal viewing over four years. The case — widely reported by UK media — raised serious questions about corporate vetting at large security firms.
24–36 month contracts with auto-renewal. Consumer reviews on Trustpilot and Google regularly highlight difficulty exiting contracts and unexpected auto-renewal clauses.
Sub-contracted installation. ADT frequently sub-contracts residential installation work, which can affect consistency of quality and engineer accountability.
Proprietary system. ADT equipment is tied to ADT service contracts. Switching providers typically means replacing all hardware.

Chubb Fire & Security

Carrier Global (US) — primarily commercial

Residential customers are secondary. Chubb’s business model is built around commercial and industrial clients. Residential customers consistently report feeling de-prioritised for engineer callouts and support response.
No published pricing — ever. All Chubb pricing is managed through sales representatives. Consumer comparison is near-impossible, and pricing is reported as premium across all consumer review platforms.
Part of a US multinational conglomerate. Chubb is owned by Carrier Global Corporation — a large US industrial group. Decision-making is far removed from the individual customer, and the personal service model that independent specialists offer simply does not exist at this scale.
Long-term commercial contracts. Chubb agreements are structured around commercial maintenance contracts. Residential customers may find themselves subject to terms designed for large business accounts.

The Prism Difference

Why Independent Beats Corporate Every Time

We’re not the biggest security company in the UK. We’re the one that answers the phone, uses the best technology, and treats every customer as if they’re our only one.

Grade 3 Ajax — the Highest Residential Standard

Ajax Superior Series is the only wireless alarm system certified to EN 50131 Grade 3 — the same standard required for high-value commercial and insurance-specified installations. Verisure, ADT, and Chubb’s residential ranges default to Grade 2.

EMCS — UK’s Largest Independent ARC

Our monitoring is handled by EMCS Nottingham — the UK’s largest independent Alarm Receiving Centre, NSI Gold accredited, responding in under 30 seconds, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. That’s not a Prism claim — it’s an independently audited fact. Note: monitoring is an additional charge.

No Lock-In. Open System. Your Equipment, Your Choice.

Ajax is an open-standard system. Any Ajax-certified engineer can service it. There is no proprietary handshake, no annual licence, no “only we can touch it” clause. If you ever move provider, you keep your hardware.

Transparent Pricing. Published. Online. No Sales Pressure.

Our service plan pricing is published on our website. You can see exactly what you’re paying before you speak to anyone. No cold calls, no surprise quotations, no “this price is only available today” tactics.

Photo Verification in Under 9 Seconds

Ajax MotionCam sensors capture a photo sequence the moment an alarm triggers and deliver it to your app and EMCS in under 9 seconds. That means real confirmation of an intrusion before police are contacted — reducing false alarms and protecting your police URN.

Local, Personal, Accountable

Prism is a North West-based independent security company. When something needs fixing, you speak to us — not a call centre, not a sub-contractor, not a machine. We are currently pursuing NSI, SSAIB, and BAFE accreditations, all in progress.

The Bottom Line

Big brands sell you a contract. Prism sells you security.

Verisure sells you a 36-month commitment and knocks on your door uninvited. ADT locks you into proprietary equipment. Chubb is built for corporate clients, not homeowners. All three use Grade 2 technology.

Prism installs Grade 3 Ajax Superior systems — the same hardware standard used in high-value commercial premises — with an open system you own, transparent pricing you can see before you call us, and monitoring backed by the UK’s largest independent ARC.

Quick Verdict

Verisure — Aggressive sales, 36-month lock-in, Grade 2, proprietary system. Fine if you enjoy cold callers and long contracts.

ADT — Large corporate with documented vetting concerns, proprietary equipment, and 24–36 month commitments. A very long-established name; not always a quality guarantee.

Chubb — Built for commercial clients. If you’re a homeowner, you’re not their priority customer.

Prism — Grade 3 Ajax. EMCS NSI Gold ARC. Transparent pricing. Open system. No hard sell. Local and independent.

No Hard Sell — No Obligation — No Surprises
